Industrial Pipefitter

Venteon and Harvard Resource Solutions are hiring an Industrial Pipefitter to provide support in Flint, MI. You will be responsible for fabricating, installing, assembling, testing, and maintaining piping systems used in manufacturing facilities. This position supports the construction, installation, commissioning, and maintenance of automation systems by installing hydraulic, pneumatic, coolant, lubrication, compressed air, and process piping according to engineering drawings, specifications, and applicable codes.

Position Type:
Full time. Direct Hire. In Plant.

Pay: $34.00 - $38.00 per hour based on skills and years of experience.

Requirements of the Pipefitter:

  • High school diploma or GED required, and completion of a pipe fitting apprenticeship, technical training, or equivalent work experience preferred.
  • 4+ years of industrial pipe fitting experience, preferably in automotive manufacturing, automation, or industrial equipment installation.
  • Ability to read and interpret piping drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
  • Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic piping systems.
  • Knowledge of industrial piping materials, fittings, valves, and installation methods.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting automotive automation, robotics, conveyor systems, or machine tool installations.
  • Pipe welding, brazing, soldering, or orbital welding experience.
  • Familiarity with hydraulic power units, lubrication systems, and industrial cooling systems.
  • Forklift, aerial lift, overhead crane, or rigging experience.
  • Ability to travel for customer installations and equipment commissioning.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to use pipe threading, bending, cutting, and fabrication equipment.
  • Skilled in precision measurement and layout techniques.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Ability to work independently while meeting project schedules.

Duties of the Pipefitter:

  • Fabricate, assemble, install, and repair piping systems for automated manufacturing equipment and industrial machinery.
  • Install hydraulic, pneumatic, coolant, lubrication, compressed air, water, and process piping systems.
  • Read and interpret piping isometrics, blueprints, engineering drawings, P&IDs, and equipment layouts.
  • Measure, cut, thread, bend, fit, and assemble steel, stainless steel, copper, aluminum, PVC, and other piping materials.
  • Install valves, regulators, filters, manifolds, gauges, pumps, fittings, and related piping components.
  • Perform pressure testing, leak testing, flushing, and system verification prior to equipment startup.
  • Support machine installation, equipment integration, and production line commissioning.
  • Troubleshoot and repair piping systems to minimize equipment downtime.
  • Coordinate work with machine builders, electricians, controls technicians, welders, millwrights, and engineers.
  • Ensure piping systems comply with customer specifications, applicable codes, and company quality standards.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of installations, modifications, and repairs.
  • Follow OSHA regulations, lockout/tagout procedures, confined space requirements, and company safety policies.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and a clean, organized work area.

Physical Requirements

  • Frequently stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces.
  • Lift and carry up to fifty pounds.
  • Work around moving machinery, electrical equipment, and industrial noise.
  • Ability to distinguish wire colors and safely perform electrical testing.
  • May be required to work overtime, weekends, or respond to emergency equipment failures.

Working Conditions

  • Manufacturing or industrial facility environment.
  • Exposure to noise, machinery, welding operations, oils, coolants, compressed air systems, and varying temperatures.
  • Required use of appropriate safety equipment.
