Youth Specialist Leads - Staff Supported Adolescent Housing - 10032 Now Hiring:Lead Youth Specialists – Independent Living Program
Location: Royal Oak, Michigan
Status: Full Time 40 hours per week

Join Samaritas Nation as a Lead Youth Specialist and help guide adolescents transitioning from foster care to independent living in our Staff Supported Housing (Independent Living Plus) program
.
In this role, you’ll support youth as they build confidence, develop life skills, and prepare for a successful future—while also leading and supporting a team of Youth Specialists.

What You’ll DoTeam Leadership & Operations
- Create and manage schedules for Independent Living Plus Youth Specialists
- Provide shift coverage (including 2nd or 3rd shifts) when needed
- Train and support new Youth Specialists on responsibilities and best practices
- Collaborate with Program Managers on performance management and corrective actions
- Maintain awareness of house operations, staffing needs, and overall program function
- Serve as a mentor and positive role model for youth in residence
- Guide youth in developing daily living skills, including household responsibilities
- Support youth as they transition from foster care to independent living
- Build relationships that foster trust, growth, and accountability
- Monitor youth activities to ensure safety and well-being
- Reinforce house rules and program expectations
- Participate in house meetings and treatment planning sessions
- Communicate youth progress with case managers, coaches, and program staff
- Report safety concerns, maintenance needs, or behavioral issues appropriately
Education
- High School Diploma or GED (
required
) - Associate or bachelor’s degree in social services, Child Development, or related field (
preferred
)
Experience
- Experience in a group home, residential setting, or working with youth strongly preferred
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred
- Background in child welfare or human services a plus
Skills & Qualifications
- Ability to provide trauma-informed care in high-stress environments
- Strong leadership, coaching, and communication skills
- Ability to mentor and positively influence youth behavior and development
- Team-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities
- Bilingual (Spanish or language of youth served)

- Valid driver’s license with a good driving record
- Reliable personal transportation and proof of insurance
- Ability to safely transport youth as needed
