RATE OF PAY: Grade Level (5) Starting Hourly Rate = $27.12 per hour + shift premium

REPORTS TO: Director of Fleet Maintenance/Facilities
Under the direction of the Director of Fleet Maintenance & Facilities, or a higher classified employee, perform a variety of tasks related to the receiving, storing, issuing and record keeping operations of the stockroom.
TYPICAL JOB DUTIES- Assists mechanics and appropriate Road Commission personnel in obtaining parts, supplies and materials. Makes a daily report on parts issued and to whom.
- Unloads incoming material, parts and supplies and ensures that it conforms to invoices and stores in bins or shelves according to such criteria as size or part number. Operates forklift as necessary.
- Assists in taking inventory.
- Maintains the necessary records to the operation of the stockroom and the charging of materials, parts and supplies to the appropriate account.
- Contacts local business to locate materials, parts and supplies.
- Assists in ordering materials, parts and supplies and plans for delivery.
- Use Road Commission vehicles to pick up or deliver needed materials, parts and supplies.
- Maintains the stock room in a neat and orderly condition.
- Use the computer to adjust and retrieve data used in maintaining fleet operating records.
- Compiles data pertinent to the fleet’s replacement parts and operating supplies requirements. Develop reports used in determining the fleets operating characteristics.
- Remains knowledgeable on new equipment requirements for replacement parts and supplies.
- Ability to understand and follows directions.
- Ability to maintain good interpersonal relationships.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
- Ability to maintain accurate records to prepare reports from those records.
- Ability to make decisions in accordance with established policies.
- Basic knowledge of stock equipment replacement parts and their purpose.
- Basic knowledge of computers.
- High School Diploma/GED.
- Six (6) – Twelve (12) months Stock Room experience.
- At least one (1) year computer experience focusing on Microsoft Office applications with an emphasis on Excel.
- Valid Michigan Driver’s License.
- Ability to read and comprehend instructions.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one or group situations.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers or common fractions.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding and carry out detailed and involved written or oral instructions.
- Ability to deal with problem situations.
