Location: University of North Alabama – Florence, AL
Salary: $60,000 – $67,500 per year

Job SummaryThe Controller at Chartwells Higher Education will oversee the financial and accounting functions at the University of North Alabama. The role requires strong business acumen, motivation, and the ability to build working relationships with team members. The Controller will manage cash handling, reconciliation, budgeting, reporting, inventory control, payroll, and related financial activities.
Key Responsibilities- Responsible for all cash handling procedures.
- Perform reconciliation and analysis for several balance sheet accounts.
- Analyze financial results for internal and external use.
- Track and maintain monthly P/L and balance sheet activity.
- Develop forecasts and budgets, identifying risks and opportunities.
- Review general ledger and balance sheet items.
- Resolve various accounting and reconciliation issues.
- Prepare and distribute monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including fiscal close and audit reporting.
- Maintain inventory and cost control procedures.
- Oversee payroll and human resources administration.
- Perform related duties and special projects as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent professional experience.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in revenue control, financial reporting, and cash handling, with at least 3 years in a similar capacity.
- Accounting experience in food service or retail industry required; food service operations experience a plus.
- Experience with sales analysis and reporting.
- Strong planning, organizing, and controlling of complex processes and analysis of moderately complex financial information.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and relationships.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel. POS experience a plus.
