Redmont Talent Partners is working with a client seeking an experienced and strategic Controller to lead the accounting and financial operations in a growing healthcare organization. The Controller is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting, maintaining compliance with GAAP and applicable healthcare regulations, and providing financial insights that support sound business decisions. This leadership role oversees day-to-day accounting functions, manages the month-end and year-end close processes, supports budgeting and forecasting, and partners with executive leadership to drive operational excellence and long-term financial performance.

This role is preferably based in Birmingham, but for the right candidate someone within driving distance will be considered.

Key Responsibilities
  • sOversee all accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash management, and financial reporting
  • .Prepare timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP
  • .Lead the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial data
  • .Perform account reconciliations and maintain strong internal controls to safeguard company assets
  • .Develop financial analyses and performance reports that support executive decision-making and operational planning
  • .Partner with leadership to develop annual budgets, forecasts, and long-range financial plans
  • .Monitor financial performance, identify trends, and provide recommendations to improve profitability and operational efficiency
  • .Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as healthcare-specific financial and reporting requirements
  • .Coordinate external audits and assist with tax filings, compliance reporting, and other regulatory requirements
  • .Oversee financial systems and recommend process improvements that enhance accuracy, efficiency, and reporting capabilities
  • .Collaborate with department leaders to support budgeting, financial planning, and organizational initiatives
  • .Mentor and develop accounting staff while fostering a culture of accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement
  • .Perform other duties as assigned
Qualification
  • sBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required
  • .Active CPA license required
  • .Five or more years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership responsibilities
  • .Healthcare accounting experience strongly preferred but not required
  • .Thorough knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, internal controls, and corporate accounting principles
  • .Experience managing audits, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
  • .Proficiency with accounting and financial management systems; experience with ERP platforms and healthcare billing systems is a plus
  • .Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and strong financial modeling capabilities
  • .Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail
  • .Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective relationships across all levels of the organization
  • .Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
