Position: Planet Fitness - Assistant General Manager - Full Time - Florence

Florence, AL 1518 Florence Blvd, Florence, AL 35630, United States of America

Pay: $16.00 - $16.50 per hour

Responsibilities
  • Assist in recruiting, hiring, training and developing staff including Member Service Representatives, Trainers, and Custodians.
  • Help maintain a welcoming atmosphere for all members, prospective members, and guests, ensuring staff follows superior customer service guidelines.
  • Support staff management; provide backup assistance to the Club Manager as needed.
  • Schedule and supervise staff to ensure all shifts are covered; provide backup for absent employees.
  • Ensure staff delivers exceptional customer service at all times.
  • Resolve or elevate employee issues or concerns; administer weekly employee payroll.
  • Lead by example in front‑desk activities: greet members and guests, answer phones, check members into the system, conduct tours, log amenities, and communicate updates or events.
  • Facilitate member requests and resolve member issues.
  • Oversee cleanliness and maintenance of the club, including front‑desk area, lobby, and general facility upkeep.
  • Ensure safety by reporting equipment or facility repairs to the Club Manager and Facilities Maintenance team.
  • Order supplies within budget constraints.
  • Track statistics and reports weekly, monthly, and annually.
  • Manage marketing efforts, ensuring staff is trained on all promotions.
  • Make daily bank deposits as required.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned based on club needs.
Qualifications/Requirements
  • Must be 18 years of age or older and possess a high school diploma or GED.
  • One year of customer service experience, preferably in a gym or retail environment.
  • Valid CPR certification.
  • Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Suite) and quick learning of new systems.
  • Solid supervisory, diplomatic, and listening skills.
  • Hard‑working, enthusiastic, energetic, and passionate about health and fitness.
  • Strong customer service and problem‑resolution skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and reliable transportation.
Physical Demands
  • Continual standing and walking during shift.
  • Continual talking in person or on the phone during shift.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Occasional exposure to toxic chemicals during shift.
