Position Overview
The University of North Alabama’s Spencer College of Education and Human Sciences’ Kilby Laboratory School is accepting applications for the position of Lead Teacher, Pre‑K Four‑Year Class. This role is a lead teacher position in an Alabama Department of Children’s Affairs Office of School Readiness classroom responsible for instruction and oversight of a four‑year‑old preschool classroom program.
Responsibilities include planning and implementing age‑appropriate daily activities for four‑year‑olds, designing and implementing preschool curriculum, following grant guidelines, and maintaining the classroom environment to meet National Association for Education of Young Children (NAEYC) accreditation standards. The teacher will also supervise the auxiliary teacher and student workers.
Note:
This is a grant‑funded position. Employment is contingent upon funding by the sponsoring agency. Sponsorship is not available for this position.
- Early Childhood Education degree (minimum of a master’s) and currently hold or be eligible for an Alabama valid professional educator certification in Early Childhood Education (P‑3); LETRS training preferred; experience with STEM instruction also preferred.
- Master’s level Special Education degree in Early Childhood with a minimum of 18 credit hours in early childhood/child development coursework.
- Currently hold or be eligible for an Alabama valid professional educator certification in Early Childhood Education or Early Childhood Special Education with a minimum of 18 credit hours in early childhood/child development coursework.
