Position: Primary Grade Supervising Teacher (4th Grade)

The University of North Alabama is accepting applications for the position of Primary Grade, Supervising Teacher at Kilby Laboratory School. This position is an elementary teacher in the primary grades, teaching all subjects to one class. In addition to working with elementary students, the teacher will also supervise student interns, accommodate clinical experiences in the classroom, conduct classroom research, serve on committees, and participate in other job-related activities.

Responsibilities
  • Teach all subjects to one class in the primary grades, specifically 4th grade.
  • Work with elementary students.
  • Supervise student interns.
  • Accommodate clinical experiences in the classroom.
  • Conduct classroom research.
  • Serve on committees as requested.
  • Participate in other job‑related activities.
  • Implement innovative practices.
  • Support the campus community.
  • Participate in school‑wide professional development.
  • Engage with the parent‑teacher organization (PTO).
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in elementary education or early childhood education (required); education specialist (EdS) preferred.
  • Three or more years of teaching experience in grades K-6 (required); P-3 preferred.
  • National Board for Professional Teaching Standards Certification preferred.
  • STEM instructional experience preferred.
  • Trained in the science of reading (LETRS) preferred.
  • Valid Alabama Professional Educator Certificate in elementary or early childhood education (required), or the ability to obtain such through reciprocity.
  • Clear understanding of the Alabama Reading Initiative, Alabama Math, Science and Technology Initiative, College and Career Ready Standards, The Alabama Literacy Act, and The Alabama Numeracy Act; commitment to implementing innovative practices.
