Position Overview
The University of North Alabama is accepting applications for a Non‑Tenure‑Track Lecturer in Biology to begin in August 2026. The successful candidate will primarily teach introductory biology lectures and laboratories for majors and non‑majors, coordinate laboratory courses, manage the department’s greenhouse, supervise student workers, maintain supply inventories, and provide service to the department, college, and university. Standard workload is 15 semester hours, with laboratory coordination duties included.
Preference may be given to candidates who can also teach Human Anatomy & Physiology or Clinical Microbiology. Sponsorship is not available.
- Teach introductory biology lectures for majors and non‑majors.
- Teach introductory biology laboratories for majors and non‑majors.
- Coordinate introductory biology laboratory courses, including scheduling, ordering supplies, and setting up/tearing down labs.
- Manage the department’s greenhouse.
- Supervise student workers who assist with non‑teaching duties.
- Maintain proper supply inventories.
- Provide service to the department, college, and university as needed.
- Potentially teach Human Anatomy & Physiology and/or Clinical Microbiology laboratories.
• Earned master’s degree in biology or a closely related discipline.
• At least 18 graduate‑level credit hours in biology.
• Ph.D. holders (including ABD) are welcome if the graduate biology coursework requirement is met.
• Prior experience teaching at the undergraduate level is highly preferred.
