The University of North Alabama invites applications for adjunct (part-time) teaching positions in one or more of our current Engineering fields (general engineering (EG), biological engineering (BIEG), chemical engineering (CHEG), power generation engineering (PWEG), manufacturing engineering (ENMF), and engineering management (MGEG)) expected to be available in the department of Engineering & Industrial Professions.
Persons holding adjunct teaching positions normally teach three to six credit hours or nine contact hours per semester. Payment for adjunct teaching is on a standardized university scale according to credit or contact hours taught.
The successful candidate will be expected to:
- Maintain and manage laboratories associated with the curricula;
- Teach program-related coursework;
- Support the department's current ABET-accreditation processes.
- Master's degree is required;
- Bachelor's degree from an EAC-ABET accredited engineering program required;
- 18 graduate hours in Engineering or management-related topics (e.g., an MBA) for MGEG candidates, required;
- 18 graduate hours in Engineering for EG, BIEG, CHEG, PWEG, ENMF candidates, required;
- Professional licensure as a PE in at least one US state, preferred;
- CAEM, CPEM, PMP, Six Sigma and/or similar industry certifications, preferred;
- MBA (or similar business degree), preferred.
- Ability to communicate effectively with students, faculty, and staff in written form, verbally, and inter-personally.
- Experience and skills working with a diverse population of students, faculty, and staff;
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills;
- Desire to teach and/or learn to teach a varied and evolving curriculum;
- Ability to plan and perform hands-on development of laboratory equipment and exercises.
Adjuncts are typically paid $800/credit hour or $2,400 per 3-credit course however, some differences may occur based on credit/contact hours taught, and the college/department in which you will teach.
