Adjunct Instructor - Occupational Therapy

The University of North Alabama invites applications for adjunct (part-time) teaching positions expected to be available in the area of Occupational Therapy program in the Nursing - Health Professions department. Persons holding adjunct teaching positions normally teach three to six credit hours or nine contact hours per semester. Appointments are part-time and temporary and payment for adjunct teaching is on a standardized university scale according to credit or contact hours taught.

Responsibilities may include course development, classroom instruction, clinical supervision, or lab-based teaching depending on departmental needs.

• Master’s degree required;
• Two years of clinical experience in occupational therapy preferred;
• Current practice in clinical or academic setting is preferred;
• Teaching or fieldwork experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.

• Current, active, unencumbered Occupational Therapist Assistant or Occupational Therapy license in the state of Alabama (or multi-state equivalent) or the ability to obtain such through reciprocity is required;
• Occupational Therapist (OT) or Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) certified by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) is required.

For consideration for adjunct teaching and/or entrance to the approved pool, complete adjunct application packets include official transcripts for the highest degree attained. If any of your graduate hours in the relevant teaching discipline are taken from a degree(s) that is not your highest attained, an official transcript of that degree(s) must also be submitted.

Electronic copies, if available, of unofficial transcripts may be attached under the attachment headings of Unofficial Transcript 1, Unofficial Transcript 2, etc. Electronic copies of unofficial/official transcripts may also be requested to be sent to employment. If electronic copies of transcripts are unavailable, hard copies must be sent to:

Official transcripts must be sent directly to HR from the issuing school via email or postal mail to be considered official. Transcripts with a designation of "Issued to Student", or with the student’s name listed as the recipient will not be considered official.

Adjuncts are typically paid $800/credit hour or $2,400 per 3-credit course however, some differences may occur based on credit/contact hours taught, and the college/department in which you will teach.
