Overview
North Alabama Medical Center, part of Lifepoint Health, is seeking a PRN Sonographer to perform diagnostic ultrasonographic procedures under physician guidance. The role includes conducting Echo and Vascular studies, maintaining equipment, and ensuring patient comfort and accurate records.

Under the guidance of physicians/providers, you will perform a variety of diagnostic ultrasonographic procedures, including Echo and Vascular studies (arterial, venous, reflux). You will:
- Receive patients, explain procedures and ensure comfort.
- Operate ultrasound equipment for clinical exams and routine non-invasive procedures.
- Maintain equipment, supplies, and organized work areas.
- Communicate effectively with physicians and maintain accurate records.
- Ensure smooth patient flow and proper scheduling.
- Verify requisition completeness and consult with physician when needed.
- Recognize structures on monitor and differentiate artifacts from anatomy/pathology.
- Apply in-depth knowledge of anatomy/physiology and technical expertise to improve diagnostic results.
- Education:
Associate’s degree required; graduate of approved Ultrasound/Sonography program or equivalent. - Licensure: ARDMS/CCI Registered; if new graduate, must be eligible and pass a test in one area (ECHO or VASCULAR) within one year of employment.
- Certifications:
Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
