Helpers Production Worker
The Helpers Production Worker supports metal finishing and passivation operations in a manufacturing environment by cleaning and preparing parts to precise specifications, inspecting finished work, coordinating material flow, and maintaining accurate documentation. This position is hands-on, involves working around industrial equipment, and is well suited for someone comfortable in a production setting and not afraid to get a little dirty. Training is provided on specific processes and procedures.
Responsibilities- Maintain cleaning and passivation processes in strict accordance with validated procedures to ensure consistent quality and compliance.
- Clean and passivate parts to meet customer specifications and established internal procedures, following detailed instructions and standards.
- Examine and visually inspect cleaned parts to verify conformance to quality standards and identify any defects or nonconformities.
- Complete all required paperwork accurately and legibly, including production records, quality documentation, and inventory tracking forms.
- Coordinate with the production area to understand material needs and deliver inventory cut to the proper size using a saw or similar equipment.
- Maintain accurate in-process inventory tracking to ensure proper material flow and availability for production operations.
- Follow written, oral, and diagram-based instructions to carry out daily tasks safely and efficiently.
- Use standard measuring and testing devices such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, pin gauges, radius gauges, optical comparators, and depth micrometers to verify part dimensions and quality.
- Operate basic hand tools, including wrenches and screwdrivers, to support cleaning, passivation, and material handling activities.
- Read and interpret detailed drawings and specifications to understand part requirements and processing instructions.
- Work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining high standards of accuracy, safety, and productivity.
- Stand for extended periods at the operator's work area and walk between various machines and workstations as needed.
- Handle short-cycle, repetitive tasks and diversified operations requiring continuous mental and visual attention and constant alertness.
- Lift and move materials and parts weighing up to 25 pounds frequently during the shift.
- Adhere to all safety, quality, and operational procedures to maintain a clean, organized, and compliant production environment.
- Comfort working in a manufacturing environment and willingness to perform hands-on tasks that may involve getting dirty.
- Ability to maintain and follow validated cleaning and passivation procedures with close attention to detail.
- Ability to clean and passivate metal parts to meet customer specifications and internal standards.
- Strong visual inspection skills to ensure parts conform to established quality requirements.
- Ability to complete documentation and production paperwork accurately and consistently.
- Basic production and general manufacturing experience, including familiarity with cleaning, visual inspection, and documentation.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints, complicated drawings, and specifications.
- Math skills, including the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure with whole numbers and fractions in both English and metric systems.
- Ability to use a handheld calculator and convert metric units to English units and vice versa.
- Ability to use standard measuring and testing devices such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, pin gauges, radius gauges, optical comparators, and depth micrometers.
- Ability to use common hand tools such as wrenches and screwdrivers safely and effectively.
- Reasoning skills and common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to stand for long periods, walk between machines, and perform repetitive tasks requiring continuous mental and visual attention.
- Ability to frequently lift and move items up to 25 pounds.
- 3+ years of work experience in metal finishing preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in metal finishing processes, including cleaning and passivation, is preferred.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD or Solid Works to support understanding of drawings and specifications.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while meeting production and quality targets.
- Familiarity with general production operations, finishing processes, and inventory tracking.
- Comfort using saws or similar cutting equipment to cut inventory to specified sizes.
- Ability to handle diversified operations that require constant alertness and attention to detail.
- Openness to learning and receiving training on specific procedures and equipment used in the facility.
- Equivalent education and experience may be considered in place of direct metal finishing background.
