Safety Specialist GD

An industry-leading industrial manufacturer is seeking a Safety Specialist to support their operation at its largest North American facility in the Florence, AL area.

This position will serve as the primary safety resource for one of the site's highest-risk and most critical production areas, partnering closely with operations teams to drive safety performance, regulatory compliance, and employee engagement. The successful candidate will be a highly visible, hands-on safety professional who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

The Role:

• Support all safety and health initiatives within the division.
• Conduct safety observations, audits, inspections, and risk assessments
• Lead incident investigations and corrective action implementation
• Partner with operations leadership to identify and mitigate workplace hazards
• Drive employee engagement and continuous improvement in safety culture
• Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and corporate EHS standards
• Maintain a strong presence on the production floor and build relationships across the workforce

The Candidate:

• 5+ years of safety experience in manufacturing or heavy industrial environments
• Experience in aluminum, steel, metals, or other high-hazard manufacturing operations preferred
• Strong knowledge of industrial safety programs, incident investigation, and hazard recognition
• Excellent communication, coaching, and relationship-building skills
• Comfortable working in a union manufacturing environment
• Proven ability to influence employees and leaders at all levels of the organization
• Bachelor's degree preferred; equivalent experience considered
