Unit Secretary

North Alabama Medical Center is part of Lifepoint Health, a diversified healthcare delivery network with facilities coast to coast. As a Unit Secretary, you will play a vital role in ensuring patients, families, and visitors feel welcomed and safe while supporting clinical and administrative operations across the unit.

North Alabama Medical Center opened its doors in 2018 as the replacement facility for Eliza Coffee Memorial Hospital. The hospital serves as a regional center with over 200 physicians on staff representing more than 42 specialty areas of medicine.

• Demonstrate knowledge of hospital and department policies and procedures.
• Greet and escort patients, families, and visitors to appropriate hospital areas.
• Understand and adhere to patient safety procedures, including restraints, seizures, and fall precautions.
• Assist in patient transport while maintaining safety protocols.
• Support discharge planning by gathering information, communicating with agencies, and scheduling procedures.
• Schedule admissions, create reservations, and assign beds in the system when appropriate.
• Respond to patient call lights, triaging simple vs. complex requests; assist licensed staff and CNAs as directed.
• Perform guest relations tasks such as arranging trays, securing patient valuables, providing consent forms, and coordinating family accommodations.
• Participate in performance improvement and continuing education.
• Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requires critical thinking, decisive judgment, the ability to work with minimal supervision in a stressful environment, rapid learning and navigation of multiple software systems, effective English communication (read/write/speak), and the ability to complete the Skills Competency Checklist within 90 days of hire.

• High School diploma preferred.
• BCLS preferred.

Full-Time Day Shift, 36 hours per week.

The facility is a 263‑bed hospital offering the only open‑heart surgery site in the region and a complete line of women's and children’s services, as well as comprehensive medical and imaging services. It is a certified Chest Pain center with a 24/7 cardiology team and a recognized Primary Stroke Center of Excellence. The 24‑hour emergency department serves as the primary referral center for major trauma cases in Northwest Alabama.
