About the Opportunity

A leading acute care hospital is seeking the expertise of an experienced and strategic Director of Nursing for Emergency Services to lead one of the region's busiest emergency departments. The ideal leader will be responsible for overseeing all operational, clinical, financial, and strategic aspects of Emergency Services, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care while driving excellence in outcomes, safety, and staff engagement.

As the Director of Emergency Services
, you will be the heartbeat of strategic and operational nursing leadership. This is a role for an inspirational leader who thrives on elevating patient outcomes, championing staff engagement, and driving clinical excellence.

The Emergency Department is a high-energy, deeply collaborative space powered by a dedicated team of 70 RNs and support professionals. As one of the largest and most active emergency lines in the region and the healthcare system, our client welcomes and cares for roughly 46,000 patients every year.

Key Responsibilities
  • Inspire & Guide: Act as the primary, accountable clinical leader for all Emergency Services, modeling our core values through supportive and motivational leadership.
  • Cultivate Talent: Actively champion team morale, workforce engagement, and the recruitment and retention of top-tier nursing professionals.
  • Elevate Patient Care: Drive ongoing initiatives to boost patient satisfaction, clinical quality, and cost-effective care across the department.
  • Collaborate Across Care Lines: Build strong partnerships with physicians, advanced practice providers, and executive leadership to optimize care coordination and patient experience.
  • Champion Quality & Standards: Partner closely with quality assurance teams to maintain rigorous accreditation standards and progress our mission as a highly reliable healthcare organization.
  • Develop Team Excellence: Direct continuous education, skill competency assessments, and strict adherence to modern patient safety guidelines.
What We Are Looking For

We are seeking an empathetic, data-driven, and forward-thinking nursing leader who brings:

  • Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
  • Licensure: Registered Nurse (RN) license currently active in Alabama, or immediate eligibility for licensure.
  • Experience: A minimum of 5 years of progressive, upwardly mobile leadership experience specifically within an Emergency Services environment.
  • Financial Acumen: Practical experience managing departmental budgets, resource allocation, and financial planning in an acute care setting.
  • Team Building: A proven track record of uniting multidisciplinary teams and building strong, trusting professional relationships.
  • Analytical Mindset: The ability to review clinical data and transform insights into active performance‑improvement strategies.
  • Certifications: Current BLS and ACLS certifications (or willingness to obtain within an agreed-upon timeframe).
