At North Alabama Medical Center, our Emergency Department is supported by a collaborative team of 70 RNs and nursing support staff. We care for approximately 46,000 patients annually, making us one of the largest and busiest emergency departments within the LifePoint system and throughout the region. This fast‑paced, team‑oriented environment provides valuable hands‑on experience, where every shift is meaningful, engaging, and impactful.
Our 24/7, 36‑bed Emergency Department team blends advanced clinical expertise with compassionate, patient‑focused care. We also offer OASIS Emergency Services, an eight‑bed unit dedicated to senior patients. This specialized unit provides a calmer environment with specially trained staff and access to a gerontologist, ensuring coordinated, patient‑centered care across the continuum.
How you'll contributeThe Director of Nursing provides strategic and operational leadership for all aspects of the Emergency Services at North Alabama Medical Center. You will be accountable for designing and implementing innovative programs, improving patient outcomes, and ensuring high‑quality, cost‑effective care across the continuum. As the Director, you will collaborate with providers, staff, and leadership to elevate clinical performance and patient experience.
- Serve as the accountable leader for all aspects of Emergency Services.
- Drive continuous improvement in outcomes, cost of care, and patient satisfaction.
- Partner with quality leadership to ensure compliance with accreditation standards and advance toward becoming a highly reliable organization.
- Collaborate with other service line leaders, facility leadership, and system executives to provide consistent, patient‑centered care.
- Support provider and staff recruitment, retention, and engagement.
- Demonstrate values through inspirational leadership and a commitment to patient‑centered outcomes.
- Partner with physicians, advanced practice providers, and hospital leadership to enhance care coordination, patient experience, and service delivery.
- Oversee ongoing staff education, competency, and adherence to clinical and patient safety standards.
This leadership position is full‑time, exempt, with benefits.
What we're looking for- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- Current Alabama RN license (or eligible for licensure).
- A minimum of 5 years progressive leadership experience in Emergency Services.
- Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and build effective relationships.
- Experience with budgeting, financial management, and resource allocation in acute care settings.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and implement performance‑improvement initiatives.
- BLS and ACLS required (or obtained within a defined timeframe).

North Alabama Medical Center's 24‑hour emergency department serves as the primary referral center for major trauma cases in Northwest Alabama.
