Overview
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a night shift ICU position at a Level III Trauma Center in Florence, AL, requiring 5 years of critical care experience and ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications.
Qualifications- Active AL RN license or compact RN license currently in hand
- Current AHA certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
- Minimum 5 years of critical care/ICU experience required
- Proficiency in IV starts, blood draws, NG tube placement, ECG rhythm interpretation, lab and ABG interpretation, critical care drip management and titration, ventilator management, arterial lines, chest tubes, and central venous lines including large-volume Vas Caths
- Ability to assist with bedside procedures and conscious sedation
- Smartphone required for physician communication via Tiger Connect app
- Prior experience in a high-acuity ICU managing CRRT, IABP, arterial sheath pulls, or similar advanced devices preferred
- Prior experience in a teaching hospital with resident physicians preferred
- Prior experience in SICU, MICU, CVICU, Neuro ICU, or PCU/Med-Surg preferred
- Social Security number and date of birth required for consideration
- AHA (American Heart Association) certification cards required for consideration
- Works in the Critical Care Unit (CCU) on the 2nd floor of a Level III Trauma Center
- Home unit is the CCU (22 beds); may float to CVICU (14 beds), Critical Care Step-Down (CCSD, 31 beds), or Med-Surg as needed
- Adult and geriatric patient population
- Patient ratios: CCU 1:2–1:3, CVICU 1:2–1:3, CCSD 1:4–1:5, Med-Surg 1:6
- Common diagnoses include respiratory failure, ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke, STEMI/NSTEMI, cardiogenic shock, septic shock, GI bleeds, post-op GI disorders, CABGs, and vascular procedures
- Equipment includes Space Labs bedside monitoring (continuous ECG, O2, respiratory, BP, CVP, PA monitoring), Baxter/Spectrum IV pumps, Kangaroo feeding pumps, Hill-Rom critical care beds, ventilators (variety), Prismaflex CRRT machines, intra-aortic balloon pumps (IABP), Blanketrols, Arctic Sun, rapid-transfusion and fluid warming devices, and Zoll monitoring
- EHR:
Meditech with clinical access for ICU patients - Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- Every other weekend required
- No on-call requirements
- 13-week contract
- Manages a diverse critical care patient population with a wide variety of specialty physicians on staff
- Responsibilities include managing ventilators, critical care drips, arterial lines, chest tubes, central lines, and assisting with bedside procedures and conscious sedation
- Required to complete all online Life Talent learning assignments including NIHSS, ACLS/BLS, Moderate Sedation/Analgesia, iStat, and glucometer certifications
- Scrub color:
Royal Blue scrub pants required at all times; tops, t-shirts, sweatshirts, or vests must be neutral colored and solid, or feature the facility logo - Candidates must reside more than 60 miles from the facility to be eligible
- Candidates who have worked as permanent staff at any LifePoint facility within the last 12 months are not eligible
- Candidates who are employed full-time elsewhere are not eligible
