The Veterinary Assistant role is a full-time, on-site position based in the Florence–Muscle Shoals metropolitan area, AL. The Veterinary Assistant will support veterinarians and licensed staff with daily tasks such as handling and restraining animals, assisting during examinations and treatments, preparing exam rooms, and maintaining a clean, safe environment. Responsibilities include monitoring patients, performing basic animal care (feeding, watering, exercising, and grooming), and helping with laboratory samples and simple diagnostic procedures under supervision.

The role also involves updating medical records, restocking supplies, and providing courteous, clear information to clients about recommended care and clinic procedures. The Veterinary Assistant works closely with the entire team to promote efficient workflow and a positive experience for animals and their caregivers.

• Candidates should possess strong Animal Care and Pet Care skills, including safe handling techniques and attention to animal welfare.
• Candidates should possess skills in Client Education and Customer Service to communicate clearly, answer basic questions, and support a positive client experience.
• Candidates should possess foundational knowledge of Veterinary Medicine to assist with exams, treatments, and routine procedures under professional supervision.
• Additional beneficial qualifications include prior experience in a veterinary clinic or animal shelter, familiarity with medical records or practice software, and the ability to follow detailed clinical instructions.
• Reliable attendance, strong teamwork, and the ability to stand, lift, and move animals safely are required; a high school diploma or equivalent is preferred, and relevant certifications or training in veterinary assisting are a plus.
