Application Tips

Perform customer service and administrative functions for the public to report compliance with County codes, enter pleas, request hearings, and request information on County procedures including rights and responsibilities of the defendant and perform court clerk functions for Civil Hearings under basic supervision.

Perform customer service and administrative functions for the public to request information and resolve County administrative hearings and perform duties in compliance with County policy and procedures.

Prepare case files and correspondence for County Hearing Office, advise of any special circumstances relevant to a case, and exercise judgment in applying established ordinances, policies, and procedures.

Prepare docket and calendar for administrative hearing cases, prepare notice to defendants, subpoenas, and order to show cause as requested, and notify County departments of pending cases.

Record minutes of the hearing and transcribe as required, catalog exhibits submitted, prepare and distribute signed judgments, and after hearing, send judgments to the defendant with supporting documents.

Certify and process formal documents, assess and collect civil penalties, and receive and process payments.

Compile documents for case files and track cases submitted to Hearing Office, case activities, and disposition details.

Compile data and report accounting summaries, Hearing Office activities, and case processing statistics.

Prepare technical Hearing Office documents and case correspondence.

Assign and review work for part time clerical personnel.

Conduct public hearings on violations of County Ordinances, advise defendants of their rights and obligations, arrange payment schedules, and collect monies from the defendants.

Make fair and impartial decisions on assigned cases, according to Arizona Statutes for Zoning Ordinance, Building Code Ordinance, Sanitary Code, Pinal County Fire Code, and any other Arizona Statute and County Code/Ordinance authorizing the Pinal County Hearing Officer to hear civil violations.

Maintain absolute confidentiality of work-related issues, customer records, and restricted County information.

Perform other related duties as required.

High school diploma or GED equivalent.

One (1) year of administrative experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Arizona residents must have an Arizona Driver's License upon hire; newly established Arizona Residents must have one within 30 days of hire.

Knowledge of applicable Arizona Revised Statutes and County Ordinances.

Knowledge of principles and procedures of civil hearings, including legal terminology and legal procedures.

Knowledge of basic record keeping, records management, and accounting rules and standards.
