Position Overview:
As a Physical Education Teacher in the Florence Unified School District, you will play a vital role in empowering our students to lead healthy, active lives and fostering a sense of well-being.
Essential Functions
* Deliver a comprehensive and inclusive physical education curriculum that aligns with state and district standards according to the grade level of the students being taught.
* Plan and lead engaging physical education lessons that encourage student participation, skill development, and a love for physical activity.
* Implement various assessment strategies to monitor and evaluate students' physical development, providing constructive feedback and support.
* Collaborate with parents, caregivers, and the community to promote physical fitness and overall well-being, organizing and participating in health and fitness events.
* Maintain a safe and orderly physical education environment and adhere to safety guidelines and best practice.
* Maintain open communication with parents and guardians, sharing insights into students' progress and achievements in the course.
* Engage in ongoing professional development opportunities to stay informed about education trends, teaching strategies, and curriculum enhancements in the content area.

Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. * Bachelor's or Master's degree in Physical Education, Health Education, or a related field.
* Master's Degree (M.A.) in Education.or related field (preferred)
* Valid state teaching certification in Physical Education, Approved area of Drivers Education also required.
* Minimum of three (3) years previous teaching experience or school experience in teaching (preferred)
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
* Valid Arizona IVP fingerprint clearance card
* Valid Arizona Teaching certificate
Clearances
* Measles/Mumps/Rubella Immunity/Vaccination
* Valid I-9 form
* AZ Department of Public Safety IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
Working Environment:
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands; the employee is frequently required to sit; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Terms of Employment:
* Salary schedule commensurate with education and experience for this position
* 188 day new teacher contract - per work calendar for this position
* 186 returning teacher contract - per the work calendar for this position

Evaluation:
Performance of this position will be evaluated annually by the site administration in accordance with Governing Board Policy.
