Job SummaryUnder the general supervision of the Public Works Director, the County Engineer performs professional engineering and management work of considerable difficulty managing the Engineering, Traffic, Flood Control & Drainage Sections in the Public Works Department; performs other work as required or assigned. The incumbent supervises the design and/or construction of transportation, traffic engineers, flood control and drainage projects, and other official County Public Works projects.
The employee applies general goal and policy statements to resolve organizational and service delivery problems. The incumbent has Arizona State statutory responsibilities and must comply with all requirements. The employee has considerable latitude in administering a complex and/or sensitive area of responsibility. Responsibilities include preparing and monitoring budgets, establishing goals, administering personnel policies, fulfilling statutory requirements, and formulating functional policies and procedures.
The recommendations and decisions made affect the administration and management of major programs and/or services and attainment of goals.
