JOB SUMMARY
Maintain safety and security of inmates, staff and detention facilities, provide custody and control of inmates, preserve order and discipline, and supervise inmates according to Pinal County Sheriff's Office Adult Detention Center (PCSO-ADC) policies and procedures and state and Federal regulations under basic supervision.

THIS ROLE IS COMPENSATED UNDER A STEP PAY STRUCTURE WITH SCHEDULED INCREASES BASED ON TENURE AND PERFORMANCE.Newly hired laterals shall be placed at a step according to their full years of credited service. Years of service shall be determined based upon information contained in the application and validated based upon the number of full years paid into the Correctional Officers Retirement System (CORP) or equivalent retirement system for out-of-state laterals with service credits.
Eligibility for placement at a step above entry shall be at the discretion of PCSO based upon the candidate’s training and applicable job related experience.
To receive service credit, the candidate shall have attended and successfully completed a detention/correctional academy conducted by a state or county law enforcement agency and worked in an adult detention/correctional facility. Applicants with previous employment as a detention/correctional officer in a municipal or federal agency and those from the private prison sector shall be considered on a case by case basis.
Step Placement:
Eligible laterals will receive one credit for each year of credited service. No credit shall be given for partial years of service.
