Description Seeking certified court reporters to join our team in Pinal County

You must be certified as a Court Reporter:
Certified Reporters Program (azcourts.gov) to be hired in this position.

CLASSIFICATION SUMMARY

Performs complex work of considerable difficulty in the verbatim stenographic recording and transcribing of court and legal proceedings to document and produce verbatim records of verbal and nonverbal activities.

The Superior Court in Pinal County values your experience. We review every candidate for a salary offer that is both equitable and applicable to the position range. Based upon your direct experience and background, a salary offer will likely be presented to you within ourstartingminimum tomidpoint of range ($45,969 - $58,611).

TYPICAL CLASSIFICATION ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Work in this classification requires an individual to be able to perform the essential job functions satisfactorily. JOB

FUNCTIONS
  • Records all court proceedings verbatim by use of specialized equipment
  • Catalogs and files stenographic notes and transcripts
  • Prepares and certifies transcripts
  • Reads back testimony from stenographic notes as requested
  • Replies to correspondence relating to transcripts of proceedings
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK
  • A High School diploma, or equivalent G.E.D. certificate; and
  • Two (2) years of professional experience as a court reporter; or
  • Any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying.
  • Must be certified by the Arizona Supreme Court pursuant to ARS 32-4021 at time of application.
  • Arizona residents must have a valid Arizona Driver’s License upon hire; newly established Arizona Residents must have one within 30 days of hire.
  • Court Reporter certification must be maintained as a condition of employment.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Applicable Statutes and Rules of Procedure pertaining to Court Reporters
  • Pinal County and specific court-related policies and procedures
  • Principles of file and records management
  • Court processes, procedures and legal terminology
  • Courtroom proceedings
  • Terms and practices in the field of court reporting
  • Specialized and technical vocabulary, i.e. legal, medical, scientific, engineering, physics and others
  • English grammar, punctuation and usage
  • Maintain confidentiality in court related matters
  • Utilize computerized stenographic equipment
  • Work extended hours under stressful conditions
