Compensation: $140,000 - $150,000/yr.

Corecivic is seeking a Nurse Practitioner Primary Care who is passionate about providing high‑quality care in an institutional setting. The successful applicant will deliver advanced nursing services and patient care to inmates and residents under the supervision of the facility physician.
Responsibilities Primary Healthcare Services- Conduct thorough medical evaluations, physical examinations, and medical histories for incarcerated individuals
- Diagnose and treat a wide range of acute and chronic illnesses, injuries, and infections
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans; prescribe appropriate medications, therapies, and interventions
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests, including laboratory work, radiological examinations, and screenings
- Provide vaccinations, perform health screenings, and promote preventive care measures within the correctional population
- Perform basic technical skills such as suturing, splinting, and injections
- Monitor and manage chronic diseases common among inmates, including diabetes, hypertension, asthma, HIV/AIDS, and Hepatitis C
- Ensure proper medication management, including prescribing, adjusting dosages, and monitoring treatment effectiveness
- Educate patients on disease management strategies, lifestyle modifications, and medication adherence
- Collaborate with specialty care providers for consultations and referrals, as necessary
- Respond to medical emergencies within the correctional facility, providing immediate assessment, stabilization, and necessary interventions
- Coordinate with emergency medical services or arrange transfers to external medical facilities when required
- Participate in emergency preparedness planning and training exercises to ensure efficient emergency response within the correctional setting
- Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team—including nurses, psychologists, psychiatrists, dentists, social workers, and other correctional staff—to ensure coordinated and integrated healthcare delivery
- Communicate effectively with healthcare team members, providing necessary information, consultations, and referrals
- Participate in case conferences, team meetings, and quality improvement initiatives to enhance overall healthcare delivery
- Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date medical records, including patient histories, diagnoses, treatments, and administered medications
- Adhere to patient confidentiality regulations and ensure the security and privacy of medical records
- Comply with all relevant laws, regulations, and policies governing correctional healthcare and professional ethical standards
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in primary care, correctional medicine, and relevant healthcare regulations
- Engage in continuous professional development activities
- Provide training and education to correctional staff on primary healthcare topics, as needed
- Degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program
- Current and unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license in the state/jurisdiction where the correctional facility is located
- Experience providing primary care or relevant experience in correctional or underserved populations is preferred
- Strong assessment and diagnostic skills, with the ability to manage a wide range of acute and chronic medical conditions
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills
- Ability to work effectively in a challenging and dynamic environment
