JOB

SUMMARY

Perform duties that relate to the security and safety of judges, court staff and visitors of Superior Court. You will enforce court security protocols, maintain order within court facilities, and respond to high-risk situations as needed. Under the guidance of a supervisor, you will conduct patrols, screen individuals entering the courthouse, and handle any incidents that may threaten the safety of court operations.

You may be assigned to the main courthouse in Florence, or one of our courthouses throughout Pinal County.

This position requires sound judgement, professionalism, and the ability to remain calm under pressure while utilizing your armed experience to protect the integrity of the judicial process.

The Superior Court in Pinal County values your experience. We review every candidate for a salary offer that is both equitable and applicable to the position range. Based upon your direct experience and background, a salary offer will likely be presented to you within our starting minimum to midpoint of range ($39,411 - $49,264).

TYPICAL

CLASSIFICATION ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Provides an armed security presence at the public entrance and throughout the Superior Court building.
  • Maintains a visible presence as a deterrent to those who might consider disturbing the operations or security of the courthouse.
  • May be assigned to the entry security screening teams responsible for screening all persons, bags, briefcases, packages, containers, etc., entering the Court building.
  • Addresses situations that may be or escalate to a disturbance or hazard to the courthouse.
  • May serve, as directed, as a security escort or as a security presence in a variety of court situations.
  • Responds to medical emergencies and renders first aid and CPR as a first responder.
  • Carries and safely employs court-approved and issued firearms and/or other defensive weapons as situations dictate.
  • Prepares and submits reports on security incidences.
  • Implements emergency procedures as directed and when appropriate.
  • Monitors security cameras, radios and respond to security/panic alarms.
  • Maintains absolute confidentiality of work-related issues, customer records and restricted County information.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent; AND
  • Two (2) years of experience in law enforcement, as a security, correctional or other comparable firearm carrying officer experience; AND
  • Must be twenty-one years of age at time of hire.
