Job Summary
The Pump Rig Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all on-site pump rig operations to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and according to design specifications, regulatory requirements, and company standards. This role leads pump crews, coordinates equipment and materials, maintains safety compliance, and serves as the primary on-site point of contact for management.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise daily rig operations, well development, and pump installation.
- Lead, train, and manage pump crews to ensure productivity, safety, and quality workmanship
- Ensure compliance with all safety policies, MSHA/OSHA regulations, environmental requirements, and company procedures
- Coordinate equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs to minimize downtime
- Maintain accurate daily reports, time sheets, safety documentation, and logs
- Communicate progress, issues, and changes to the Pump Superintendent or Drilling Manager
- Ensure proper site setup, housekeeping, and protection of utilities and surrounding infrastructure
- Enforce safe work practices, conduct job safety analyses (JSAs), and lead safety meetings
- Assist with logistics planning, including scheduling and materials
- Represent the company professionally with regulatory agencies
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience in water well pump operations
- Prior supervisory or lead-hand experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of pump rigs and pumping systems
- Working knowledge of water well construction standards and local/state regulations
- Valid driver's license; CDL preferred or required depending on operation
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work long hours, rotating shifts, and remote job sites as required
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Ability to lift up to 50+ lbs
- Capable of climbing rigs, working around heavy equipment, and standing for extended periods
