Community Account Specialist is responsible for all accounting operations of the community, including posting payments, processing Deposit Accounting forms, completing Final Deposit Accounting, and performing other administrative and customer service duties.
- Actively communicate with residents regarding move‑in processes, ledger balances, past move‑out balances, and eviction status.
- Resolve customer escalations promptly and accurately.
- Maintain the highest level of customer service for residents, vendors, teammates, and corporate departments through strong collaboration and communication.
- Ensure compliance with company money‑management and accounts receivable policies and procedures.
- Manage the collection process, ensuring accurate and timely delivery of Pay or Quits, delinquency notices, and resident communications.
- Complete accounting responsibilities, including revenue management and timely processing of Deposit Accounting and month‑end tasks.
- Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date systems for data integrity and reporting.
- Support legal proceedings for unpaid rent, including unlawful detainer, small claims, and eviction processes.
- Assist with ad‑hoc requests and reports as needed.
- Maintain alignment with company policies while effectively managing relationships with accounting, legal, and other departments.
- High school diploma or equivalent (required).
- College degree preferred.
- One year’s experience in a customer‑service environment preferred.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Comply with all applicable laws, including Fair Housing, Landlord‑Tenant, Local Building Codes, OSHA, and EEOC.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to create, compose, and edit written materials.
- Regular, consistent, and timely attendance required.
- Five‑day workweek that may include weekend coverage.
- Work mainly at a corporate office, with occasional traveling for meetings, training, community visits, and court appearances.
- Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret documents.
- Problem‑solving skills with multiple options in complex situations.
- Decision‑making based on thorough understanding of procedures, policies, and business practices.
- Highly organized and project‑management skills.
- Initiative and self‑motivation to meet all job requirements and assignments.
