Humana is looking for a Senior Accountant to join our Accounting Team supporting the Medicaid line of business. You will play an important part in the month‑end close process for multiple Medicaid plans, completing work according to Humana's close schedule. You will report to the Director, General Accounting with responsibilities including preparing journal entries, reconciling ledger accounts, reviewing financial results against budget or forecast, and contributing to the forecasting process.
Responsibilities- Prepare journal entries using data extracted from the data warehouse through coding or query‑based processes.
- Record, analyze, and report accounting transactions and ensure accounting records are complete, accurate, and compliant with applicable accounting policies and principles.
- Administer designated provider and vendor payment processes.
- Provide financial support through forecasting, budgeting, variance analysis, and review of financial performance against budget.
- Present financial results, insights and important variance explanations to market partners.
- Support State reporting requirements, audit inquiries, and market needs.
- Support IT‑related projects.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or a finance‑related area.
- 3 or more years of experience in accounting, finance, or as an IT programmer.
- Prior SQL or coding experience.
- Health insurance or Medicaid experience.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license or active pursuit of CPA certification.

Hybrid office. If in Louisville area, required to come into office 2‑3 days per week. - Schedule:

Pay RangeThe compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full‑time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job‑related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.
$78,400 – $107,800 per year
This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan. This incentive opportunity is based upon company and/or individual performance.
