Customer Assistance Representative III

Hours:
8:00am – 5:00pm.
This position is responsible for assisting customers who seek services and information at the county health department. Duties include collecting client demographic and billing information, answering phones, filing, appointment scheduling, data entry, and responding to customer questions and needs.
Position Responsibilities / Essential Functions- Frontline customer service: complete client registrations, process WIC benefits, answer telephone calls, coordinate with other departments, collect and enter billing information, accept and document payments, perform light typing, schedule appointments, provide general information to the public, file, and maintain client records.
- Maintain program reports and access the Oklahoma Health Care Authority Medicaid web portal daily to check Medicaid eligibility, complete online applications, or reinstate coverage for families or individuals.
- Maintain records such as inventories of supplies, statements of expenditures, reconcile departmental records with central records, prepare correspondence, forms, and reports.
- Handle correspondence related to special fields or programs regarding agency rules, policies, procedures, or requirements.
- Perform sorting and filing tasks: answer phones, take messages, disseminate information, sort and deliver mail, post and record data.
- Enter and retrieve information using a PC or other data processing equipment; review coded and uncoded source documents; proof data and make routine corrections.
- Examine reports and documents for completeness, appropriateness, adequacy, and conformity to established requirements; follow up on discrepancies.
- Receive or deliver materials and equipment; presence at the office is essential.
- Other duties as assigned.

One year of clerical office work plus three years of customer service experience in processing tax returns, bookkeeping, or closely related work; or equivalent combinations. Substitutions: thirty semester hours of college, including six semester hours in business or public administration, plus the required experience.
Preferred QualificationsSkill‑based pay available for bilingual duties.

PhysicalDemands and Work Environment
Work is performed in an office setting with climate control and moderate noise levels. Requires talking, standing, walking, and reaching with hands and arms. Long periods of sitting and daily use of computers and phones are common. Travel associated with the position may be required.
