The Dispatch Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the NCEMS Communication Center while also performing the duties of a Dispatcher. Utilizing experience, knowledge, and leadership skills, the Dispatch Supervisor ensures that the Communication Center operates efficiently and professionally.

- The NCEMS Communications Center is a 24-hour operation, and, therefore, this position may require irregular hours. The employee may also be required to work on call in an emergency.
- Must be 21 years of age or older and have a valid state .
- 5 years of dispatcher experience preferred.
- General knowledge of dispatch equipment - maintains relationship with dispatch equipment supplier for PMs, maintenance, etc.
- Schedule monthly dispatch meetings to keep staff up to date with current policies, review issues/concerns.
- This position works a rotating schedule including weekends and holidays. The person in this role is expected to be able to adjust to that schedule.
- We recommend demonstrated familiarity with standard medical terminology.
- Excellent oral and written communication skill.
- Work well in a group setting
Essential Functions / Job Specific Duties
- Perform fulltime duties of a dispatcher.
- Must maintain critical working relationships with community resources including Police, Fire, Life Flight, Hazmat, and internally with the North Central EMS team.
- Since many times the Dispatcher is the first contact for a client, this person must demonstrate a customer focused attitude to serve clients of diverse backgrounds at all times.
- The communication and documentation systems are computer-based making a demonstrated high level of computer operation skill essential.
- To be successful in this role you must demonstrate well developed phone, in-person, and written communication skills.
- The Dispatcher is responsible for taking inbound calls, assessing and prioritizing the situation, and assigning and coordinating appropriate internal and external resources.
- The communication center at North Central EMS is a fast paced and high volume call center which manages both emergency and non-emergency calls. Critical thinking and multi-tasking are "must have" skills.
- Participate in interviewing Dispatchers candidates.
- Supervise and manage Dispatchers, acting as a liaison between the Dispatch team and Field Supervisors/Operations Manager.
- Liaison between billing and dispatch to ensure all paperwork and billing requirements are met to maximize revenue opportunities.
- Maintain and oversee staffing schedules, ensuring appropriate coverage for planned and unplanned absences.
- Monitor supplies needed for the department.
- Coordinate required repairs and maintenance of equipment in the department.
- Oversee training the new hires and competencies of existing employees.
- Conduct monthly Quality Assurance reviews by evaluating audio recordings to identify areas for improvement and training opportunities.
- Monitor safety procedures and protocols for the department.
- Maintain patient confidentiality as per the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA).
- Supervise and assess the performance of all Dispatchers, administering Progressive Discipline, Employee Counseling, and performance appraisals as needed.

- Education:
High School or better. - Experience:
