We are seeking an enthusiastic and student‑focused Industrial Maintenance/Electrical Technology Instructor to join our team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys teaching hands‑on skills, connects well with learners from diverse backgrounds, and is passionate about preparing the next generation of electricians, maintenance technicians, and automation specialists.
Our instructors play a meaningful role in student success—both inside the classroom and through active engagement in advising, mentoring, and program development.
Applicants selected for interviews will be asked to deliver a brief (15-minute) teaching demonstration.
10-month faculty contracts span the academic year, typically from August to May, with no course assignments during June and July. Although the contract covers 10 months, the salary is spread over 12 months, ensuring a consistent monthly salary.
Benefits are provided year-round. Renewal of the contract depends on factors such as student enrollment and available funding.
Faculty may be assigned courses that include both traditional college students and high school students earning dual credit. This dynamic mix offers a unique opportunity to engage learners at different stages of their academic journey.
Job Duties- Teach a full-time course load each fall and spring in areas such as:
- Electrical systems
- Mechanical systems
- PLCs
- Robotics and automation
- Provide engaging, high-quality instruction in both theory and hands‑on applications.
- Deliver instruction through a combination of in-person and web‑enhanced formats.
- Participate in program and college committees as needed.
- Use assessment tools to continuously improve teaching and learning outcomes.
- Advise students academically and support their progress toward credentials and careers.
- Assist with student recruitment, retention, and program outreach.
- Stay current with industry trends to ensure the curriculum remains aligned with employer needs.
- Be available to teach during daytime or evening hours as required.
- Additional compensated summer teaching opportunities may be available.
- Maintenance and care of classrooms and training materials will also be expected.
- Teach at various levels to help support the College.
- Other duties as assigned.
- At least 2 years of industry experience or training in the subject area
- Detail‑oriented, self‑motivated, able to work independently and adapt seamlessly to fast‑paced, dynamic environments.
- Skilled in engaging and supporting students from different cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities effectively and meet tight deadlines.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Forms, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, Word).
- Associate's degree or higher with studies related to the industry
- Industry certifications
- 5+ years of experience in the field
- Prior teaching experience.
- Proficiency with Learning Management Systems (such as Blackboard, Canvas, etc.).
- Significant teaching experience, particularly at the college level
- Strong dedication to enhancing student learning and achievement
- Experience working with and understanding students from diverse backgrounds
- Experience in academic advising and supporting student success
- Previous experience in a community college setting
