Director of Faculty and Leadership Development in Faculty Affairs
Position Summary:
- Support the professional development of faculty and administrators while advancing institution-wide initiatives and policies related to faculty.
- Manage personnel and budgets within the Faculty and Leadership Development area.
- Research, design, deliver, and assess development programs for faculty and academic leaders to enhance excellence at the University of Georgia.
- Evaluate program effectiveness and assess developmental needs across the institution.
- Collaborate with faculty, administrators, and institutional units such as the Graduate School, Center for Teaching and Learning, University Human Resources, Office of Academic and Community Engagement, and Office of Research.
- Serve as a primary faculty support resource and develop communications for internal and external audiences via email, web, and social media channels.
- Research, design, and lead workshops, cohort programs, and other professional development initiatives using active learning techniques.
- Analyze and assess the impact of development programs, making recommendations for improvement.
- Manage budgets, personnel, and administrative tasks associated with faculty and leadership development.
- Develop and implement policies and resources that enhance faculty success planning, mentoring, leadership, productivity, and engagement.
- Write and design communications for multiple audiences, including internal staff, faculty, and external partners.
- Maintain partnerships with campus units and external stakeholders to foster faculty growth and institutional excellence.
- Terminal or master’s degree from an accredited institution.
- At least three years of experience in providing educational development to faculty and academic leaders.
- A minimum of five years of experience in higher education.
- Demonstrated ability to research, design, and lead workshops and cohort programs using active learning techniques.
- Strong capability in managing personnel and budgets.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with faculty and administrators.
- Knowledge and experience with evidence‑based approaches to learning and professional development.
- Experience leading diverse stakeholders in planning, establishing, and maintaining value‑added programs.
- Proficiency in workshop facilitation, instructional design (in‑person and virtual), and learning technology.
- Background in educational development within faculty affairs, teaching and learning centers, human resources, or academic units.
- Strong interest in training, coaching, or mentoring, preferably with documented success and/or certification.
- Excellent organizational and project‑management skills—managing multiple projects from conception to fruition under deadlines and budget constraints.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, including writing and designing content for internal and external audiences via websites, social media, and email.
