Title
Middle School Vice Principal
Reports ToPrincipal
Job GoalTo assist the principal in all aspects of school administration.
Qualifications- Holds, or is eligible for, a valid Kentucky certificate for middle school principal
- Has at least three years of successful teaching experience
- Has demonstrated ability as a teacher or administrator
- Has demonstrated ability in the areas of school discipline and instruction
- Has demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, parents, and community
- Oversee attendance records of assigned students and work closely with students, parents, teachers, and the Coordinator of Attendance Services to ensure regular attendance.
- Assist the principal in all matters of discipline within the school.
- Keep records of all disciplinary actions and be thorough, fair, and firm in maintaining proper student behavior.
- Greet incoming new students throughout the school year, schedule their classes, explain the school agenda, assign lockers, and orient them to the school.
- Assist in providing an orientation program each spring for students promoted from elementary to middle school.
- Assist with student locker assignments.
- Assist the principal in providing a complete daily schedule for each student.
- Assist in supervising bus and automobile traffic on the school grounds.
- Assist the principal in supervising the behavior and instructional process of each classroom.
- Assist the principal in textbook distribution, ensuring adequate free textbooks and maintaining proper records.
- Assist in supervising extra‑curricular activities throughout the school year, ensuring student safety and building security.
- Arrange parent conferences concerning discipline, grades, etc., as needed.
- Assist substitute teachers in orientation to their duties and provide help when necessary.
- Assist with the teacher assessment process.
- Act on behalf of the principal or assistant principal in their absence.
- Perform other duties consistent with the position as requested by the supervisor.
- Salary: 10 ¼ months (Board approved 5-14-98)
