Extension Assistant for 4-H Youth Development - Owsley County

Booneville, KY
Salary Range: $15.30 – $16.30 per hour
Job SummaryAs an Extension Assistant for 4-H Youth Development, you will provide administrative support to the 4-H Youth Development program area and County Agent(s). You will report to an Extension Agent and interact with the general public. The role requires knowledge of the Cooperative Extension Service philosophy, goals, objectives, policies and procedures, and includes program support, teaching, recruitment & marketing, and record keeping while conducting yourself professionally.
Responsibilities- Provide administrative support, including handling phone calls, emails, and scheduling.
- Maintain Quick Books budget files and supporting documentation.
- Promote and organize new 4-H clubs; recruit members and volunteer leaders.
- Support and guide existing 4-H clubs in program implementation.
- Assist in recruiting and coordinating volunteers for group projects, 4-H achievement events, and public presentation programs.
- Serve all clientele and maintain accurate records of club activities and outreach.
- Ensure compliance with state and national child background check requirements.
- No set minimum education requirements; education in working with youth or prior administrative experience preferred.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access, Publisher, Office 365, Teams, Skype for Business; Zoom) and Quick Books.
- Ability to travel to sites throughout the county, including farms; ability to sit, stand, walk for long periods; ability to handle objects up to 50 lbs.
- Willingness to undergo child background check and health & family services clearance.
Full‑time. Monday‑Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.; occasional nights, weekends or holidays may be required.
