Job Description
Belmont Elementary School is seeking an NH DOE Certified/Certifiable School Counselor to provide education, career, and social guidance and counseling to students.
Duties & Responsibilities- Direct services to students including registration/orientation, academic advising, special and exceptional student placement and follow‑up services.
- Assist students in understanding their personal assets, liabilities, and opportunities.
- Aid in developing worthwhile personal objectives and a plan to achieve goals.
- Consult with parents, teachers, administrators, and community members to maintain a learning environment.
- Assist teachers with gathering information for classroom planning and management.
- Coordinate school and community resources on behalf of all students.
- Provide small group and individual counseling as appropriate for students’ personal/developmental needs.
- Develop, conduct, and coordinate organized guidance and counseling activities.
- Assist in identifying students with special needs.
- Provide crisis interventions, information, and referral.
- Assist students in transitioning between grade levels.
- Assist with classroom and/or behavioral management planning upon request.
- Supervise student records and protect confidentiality.
- Serve as a resource person for parents and staff.
- Provide an appropriate counseling referral system for students, parents, and staff.
- Plan and provide group activities designed to be developmental and preventive.
- Attend and participate in meetings and consultations.
- Oversee 504 Plan creation, implementation, and renewal/modification.
- Coordinate and oversee report card grading.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the principal.
The contract will be for 184 days, which includes 178 school days and 8 workshop days. The position qualifies for a generous benefit package including district contribution toward health insurance plus fully paid dental, life, and long‑term disability insurance, as well as sick and personal time.

Qualifications- Master’s degree in social work, counseling, or related field (required).
- NH DOE Certification/Statement of Eligibility.
- Citizenship, residency, or work visa required.
- Good communication skills and experience building schedules.
- Experience working with students, staff, and administration in a variety of capacities.
- Successful completion of post‑offer, pre‑employment criminal background check.
- Attendance at a 2‑day new‑hire orientation immediately before school year start date required.
