Working Calendar: 187 Days / 7 Hours
Salary Range: $18.27/hr – $20.07/hr
Critical Need Stipend: $3.50 per hour & ECE Instructional Assistant Stipend: $1.00 per hour.
Information regarding Exceptional Child Education (ECE) classrooms: Exceptional Child Education programs are designed to meet the needs of students whose learning approaches differ from those of their peers. The district is committed to providing high‑quality education for students with disabilities, utilizing individualized instruction techniques, methods, and materials. ECE programs serve students with moderate to severe disabilities, mild mental disabilities, other health impairments, emotional/behavioral disabilities, autism, visual or hearing impairments, learning disabilities, social communication difficulties, or combinations of these areas.
Scopeof Responsibilities
- Recognizes that all responsibilities are essentially supportive.
- Assists in implementing each student’s Individual Education Plan.
- Helps establish and maintain a pleasant, safe, and structured learning environment.
- Displays willingness and aptitude to work with students with disabilities.
- High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- Passing score on the Kentucky Para educator Exam or 48 college semester hours.
- Willingness and aptitude to work with students with disabilities.
- Physical ability and willingness to assist with physical needs of students such as positioning, toileting, and lifting.
- Willingness to attend district ECE in‑service for professional growth.
For applicants whose highest education is High School or GED: You must take and pass the Kentucky Para educator Assessment Exam, which is free and allows three attempts. Study resources include the KPA Study Guide and the option to sign up for the KPA Prep Class with JCPS Adult Education.
Applicants with transcripts obtained outside the U.S. must have their credentials evaluated prior to consideration. Contact an approved credential evaluation agency to proceed.
