Position: Instructional Coach, STEM (Amplify Desmos Math) (Fixed-Term)

Overview

Amplify helps teachers bring delight and rigor to students every day. We are looking for an Instructional Coach for STEM (Math) to join our Professional Development team as a fixed‑term employee for South Western City School District for the 2026‑2027 school year.

Responsibilities
  • Provide on‑site support to educators up to four days per week, with the fifth day dedicated to planning and preparation.
  • Assist the Amplify PD team on department‑wide initiatives on days when district leaders are off.
  • Collaborate with school and district leadership and the assigned Amplify STEM PD Strategist to determine strategy, focus, and coaching approach for each term of the year.
  • Partner with leadership to adjust course content as needed to improve student outcomes.
  • Lead teacher observations and provide feedback to strengthen implementation of Amplify’s Math suite.
  • Conduct model lessons and co‑teach alongside classroom teachers.
  • Support unit or lesson planning with grade‑level teams or individual teachers.
  • Lead lesson study cycles to elevate instructional practice.
  • Provide recommendations to school leadership to enhance outcomes and equity for diverse student populations, including students with learning differences and English learners.
  • Facilitate PLCs for leaders and teachers, including supplementary office hour consultations.
  • Support data analysis and instructional planning with grade‑level teams, individual teachers, and reading leaders.
  • Analyze student work and formative assessment data to inform instructional decision‑making.
  • Cultivate model classrooms to replicate best practices in planning and instruction.
  • Proactively seek feedback, adapt practice, and create or customize professional development experiences as needed.
  • Facilitate district‑wide professional development sessions (in person and remote) for leaders and teachers.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Passionate about math and deep knowledge of problem‑based learning.
  • Experience leading sustained coaching engagements and professional development for K‑5 or 6‑8 educators.
  • At least 5 years of K‑5 or 6‑8 math teaching experience with demonstrable results for students.
  • Experience working on collaborative projects with leaders and teachers.
  • Experience guiding teams of educators through change management processes.
  • Experience analyzing data and using it to inform practice.
  • Proven efficacy in time management while handling multiple engagements and competing priorities.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with technology‑based productivity tools, mainly Google Applications.
  • Ability to travel locally (up to 4 days per week) across the South Western City area.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of Amplify Desmos Math or experience teaching or supporting Desmos Math.
  • 10+ years of K‑5 or 6‑8 teaching and leadership experience with demonstrable results for students.
  • Ability to support educators in a remote learning environment, if needed.
  • Master’s or Advanced Degree in Education.
Additional Information
  • Must be permitted to work in the U.S., possess U.S. residency, and have a valid U.S. driver’s license.
  • Must reside in or near South Western City School District (Columbus, OH) or be able to travel locally (up to 4 days per week) to support educators across the district.
  • Coach may be asked to deliver sessions throughout the country based on business needs and during school closures or if the contract terminates early.
  • Local travel is an essential job function. Car mileage and related expenses for professional development delivery are reimbursed in accordance with company expense policy.
Benefits

Salary range: $85,000–$95,000.
