In this role, you will help bring that mission to life in the classroom. Vance-Granville Community College is seeking a dynamic Business Administration Instructor to deliver engaging, student-centered instruction and design high-quality learning experiences that support student success and workforce readiness. This role combines innovative teaching, active learning strategies, and real‑world business expertise to prepare students for today’s evolving business environment.
The instructor will contribute to curriculum development, foster connections with the local business community, and teach across a range of disciplines including management, marketing, business law, finance, professional development, and logistics.

TeleworkingThis position is assigned to the VGCC Main Campus in Henderson NC; although, some travel to other counties in the college’s service area is possible. Consistent with VGCC’s Teleworking Policy, this position is eligible for up to 2 days per week of telework after the first 9 months of employment in this position.

- Teach assigned classes.
- Collaborate with the Program Head and other faculty program heads in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the program curriculum.
- Assess student learning outcomes and demonstrate the use of the results to make improvements to course/program.
- Recommend improvements to the course/program based on assessment results.
- Maintain suitable class records which show student membership hours, academic progress, student grading system, etc.
- Recommend the adoption or discontinuance of textbooks and/or other instructional supplies and equipment to the Department Head.
- Maintain appropriate course documents, such as syllabi, objectives, tests, lesson plans, etc. Experiment with innovative teaching techniques.
- Provide feedback to students regarding course progression.
- Support student learning outside of the classroom by holding regular office hours, providing information about additional college resources, and responding to emails and phone calls in a timely manner to promote student success. The instructor offers continuous student engagement.
- Work with students, peers, and administrative and support staff in a professional manner that models constructive problem‑solving (flexibility, preparation for required tasks); ethical conduct (respect and courtesy, consistency, fairness); organization (proper attire, attendance, decorum); and adherence to college policies and procedures.
- Maintain a minimum of five posted office hours per week for student conferences.
- Participate as a member of assigned institutional committees and attend scheduled department/division meetings.
- Serve as a faculty advisor for assigned students in matters pertaining to an advisee’s.
- Engage in a program of professional development.
- Assume other duties as assigned by the Program Head/Department Chair/Dean.
- A Master's degree in business administration (MBA) or related degree with at least 18 graduate semester hours of credit in business.
- One to two years of teaching experience; accounting and finance experience preferred; or any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities.
- Teaching experience in higher education.
- Online teaching experience.
- Experience with distance learning or alternate instructional delivery systems.
Preferred Experience
- Professional experience in advising and managing businesses.
- Light work that includes moving objects up to 30 pounds.
- Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing.
