Associate Dean, Dental Education and Academic Affairs

Summary

The Associate Dean for Dental Education and Academic Affairs (ADEA) is responsible for leading the accreditation effort, providing overall leadership, vision, strategy and oversight of the curriculum in the Bitonte College of Dentistry (BCOD). The ADEA will ensure that all aspects of the College comply with accreditation standards while fostering a student-centered, evidence-based educational environment.

Responsibilities
  • Curriculum: Stimulate collaborative endeavors to improve all academic programs for students; promote educational innovations and research; provide curricular oversight to meet student, faculty, and CODA expectations; ensure learning space and technology needs are satisfied; identify appropriate faculty; prepare for and oversee the delivery of the curriculum; foster interprofessional education; oversee ongoing evaluation of curricula and documentation of assessment data. May also serve in a teaching capacity.
  • Accreditation: Develop and lead the implementation of the accreditation effort; create policies and procedures; serve as the primary CODA liaison to ensure that a timely and complete self‑study is submitted; maintain all CODA records; ensure adherence to reporting deadlines and requirements; participate in CODA conference calls and updates.
  • Committees: Organize the structure of BCOD committees; advise the Dean on committee requirements for CODA compliance; manage meeting minutes; serve on College or University committees as appropriate; provide leadership on curriculum and oversight committees; serve as liaison and advocate for BCOD and NEOMED.
  • Strategic Planning: Monitor and manage the Academic Affairs department budget; provide input to other budgetary areas; participate in strategic planning activities for the College of Dentistry and make strategic recommendations aligned with the mission, vision, and values of the college and CODA standards.
  • Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Must be eligible for faculty appointment at the rank of Associate or Full Professor at NEOMED.
  • Required dean or high-level administrative experience in dental education at an accredited college or university in the United States or Canada.
  • A minimum of five years’ experience in dental education administration, curricular development and implementation.
  • Administrative experience in curriculum development with an in-depth understanding of accreditation of dental programs, particularly CODA requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and to champion education within an academic institution and among a wide range of external constituencies.
  • Strong track record with national recognition as an educational scholar and/or clinician‑educator.
