Full‑time non‑tenure track junior faculty position to build competency in teaching, clinical service, and research through closely mentored academic activities including instruction of first‑ and second‑year medical students, curriculum development and evaluation, weekly service in a medical clinic, and the development of a scholarly project for publication and/or presentation at a national conference.
The program will enrich master adaptive learning and communication skillsets while working alongside NEOMED faculty and staff to support peer medical students in the preclinical medical curriculum. The position will establish a pipeline for excellent physician educators for their patients and future generations of medical trainees, potentially even returning after medical training to join the NEOMED faculty.
Principal Functional Responsibilities- Teaching and Clinical Service: Teach sessions in the preclinical curriculum that will prepare students for success in the M3 clerkship, including classroom activities, small group and skills‑based sessions. Assess students in these activities.
- Small group teaching – communication and patient interviewing skills
- Large group teaching – engaged learning
- Physical examination and diagnosis skills
- Clinical reasoning and decision‑making skills
- Clinical Skills Assessment – rating and feedback
- Service: Active participation on college and university committees and membership in state and national professional organizations. Success is evaluated by level of engagement.
- Research: Participate in scholarly activities, seek extramural funding, write proposals, and conduct collaborative inquiry.
- Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned.
- Education: Currently enrolled in NEOMED’s MD program and in good standing or recent graduate of NEOMED’s MD program.
- Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in an academic setting. - Personal Attributes: Strong motivation and ambition to build a career in academic medicine;
Openness to mentorship and guidance;
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Peer tutoring/teaching experience.
Must be able to utilize a phone, computer and other office equipment.
