Job Description & How to Apply Below

Appalshop is a nationally recognized nonprofit arts and media organization based in Whitesburg, Kentucky, in the heart of Central Appalachia. Since 1969, Appalshop has used storytelling, media, arts, and education to document Appalachian experiences, strengthen communities, and support local voices. The Ameri Corps VISTA member will support AMI as it expands from a summer institute into a year‑round media education program.

The member will develop curriculum, training materials, reusable toolkits, trackers for learning outcomes, and create an outreach plan for staff to use with schools, libraries, youth-serving organizations, and workforce development partners. The member will also research funding opportunities and strengthen grant resources to support long‑term program sustainability. Whitesburg offers a close‑knit community, rich Appalachian culture, outdoor recreation opportunities, and a vibrant arts scene.

Individuals interested in expanding access to media education and creative career pathways in rural Appalachia are encouraged to apply.
