Qualifications:

Holds a master's or higher degree in guidance counseling Holds a valid Kentucky certificate as an elementary guidance counselor Has demonstrated ability to work and communicate effectively with students, parents, staff and community

Reports To:

Principal/Executive Director Student Services

Job Goal:
To make guidance and counseling services available to all students, providing for each student's individual needs depending on his/her abilities and interests.

Performance Responsibilities:

• Provide counseling and guidance activities for students through individual or group settings as needed
• Provide orientation services for new students
• Assist with pre-screening of kindergarten students
• Serve as a consultant with student placement
• Assist in maintaining appropriate student files and records
• Provide consulting services to parents and faculty members
• May be principal's designee to the admissions and release committee
• Coordinate the school's state mandated testing program
• Evaluate the school's guidance program annually
• Provide consulting services with school and community resources on behalf of students
• Maintain professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the District and other self-selected professional growth activities
• Complete both District required in-service training as well as the state mandated Effective Instructional Leadership Training
• Continue successful completion of graduate level courses until standard certification from the Kentucky Department of Education is obtained
• Perform other duties consistent with the position assigned as may be requested by the supervisor

Terms Of Employment:
Salary 10 months Board approved 3-23-92
