Job SummaryInstructors provide quality instruction for student learning and maintain a positive learning environment in Agriculture, Biology, Chemistry, Physical Science, or Physics labs C offers classes at four locations with the main campus in Jackson, TN. Additional centers include Lexington-Henderson County, Savannah-Hardin County, and Gibson County. Adjunct faculty are hired semester‑to‑semester and are expected to provide effective instruction in accordance with the catalog description and approved course syllabus in all modalities of course offerings.
Job Duties- Teach courses on ground at any of the four JSCC locations. In addition, courses may be administered online, hybrid, or FLEX as assigned.
- Teach evening, weekend, off‑campus, dual enrollment and distance‑based courses as required.
- Utilize the college’s learning management system (LMS) to provide course materials to students.
- Update course syllabi to include name and contact information at least 1 week prior to the first day of class or within seven days of contract execution.
- Stay abreast of current developments in the teaching discipline.
- Attend JSCC’s adjunct orientation.
- Collaborate collegially with full‑time faculty in preparation and coordination of laboratory exercises and examinations in all modalities.
- Operate, maintain, and clean standard laboratory supplies including glassware, centrifuges, pH meters, dissection instruments, and microscopes.
- Check JSCC and eLearn emails regularly and respond within 48 hours.
- Submit final lab grades to the instructor of record, Department Chair, or Dean at least 48 hours before the final grade deadline.
- Complete required College trainings and reports such as attendance reporting, early alerts, cybersecurity training, Title IX training, etc.
- Advise the Department Chair, Dean, and Division Secretary of any absenteeism promptly.
- Comply with all JSCC and T policies and guidelines.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a related science field.
- Master’s degree from an accredited institution in a related science field.
- Prior teaching experience, preferably at the collegiate level.
- Knowledge and/or experience using a variety of instructional delivery modes.
- Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with a diverse faculty, staff, and student population.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in LMS management and Microsoft Office applications.
Pay Rate: $600 per credit hour
