Role Overview
William Paterson University invites you to join their College of Education as a Career and Technical Education (CTE) Alternate Route program teacher. The role is a part‑time position with a remote‑friendly hybrid schedule and a four‑day summer work week. The position is offered online, allowing candidates from across New Jersey to enroll.
Department OverviewThe College of Education prepares students for teaching and related professions, providing advanced certifications and continuing professional development. It supports student success and academic excellence throughout teaching and lifelong learning.
Career and Technical Education ProgramThe CTE Alternate Route Program offers courses, seminars, and virtual field supervision to lead to state certification in a CTE area. Applicants must hold a Certificate of Eligibility from the New Jersey Department of Education and complete a 50‑hour pre‑professional course before acceptance. Full acceptance requires employment as a full‑time CTE Teacher of Record in the corresponding area. The two‑year, 350‑hour program is delivered online.
Dutiesand Responsibilities
- Teach Career and Technical Education courses online in areas such as Professional Responsibility, The Learner and Learning Environment, The Cycle of Teaching for Planning and Assessment, and Community of Practice.
- Provide students with consistent, effective, and timely feedback, support, and guidance.
- Attend department meetings and participate in departmental events.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education.
- NJDOE Standard Teaching Certificate (CTE area preferred, but not required).
- Knowledge of NJDOE Career and Technical Education areas and standards.
- Ability to teach CTE courses in an online modality.
- Commitment to supporting student success.
- Strong interpersonal skills and collaborative work ability.
- Self‑reflective and responsive to constructive feedback.
Part‑time Project Employee hourly rate: $100.00 per hour.
