William Paterson University invites applications for the position of Adjunct Faculty within the College of Science and Health, Department of Environmental Science.
Undergraduate courses in this department are taught both online and in person. Adjunct faculty typically teach:
Introduction to Sustainability, Introduction to Geology, and Environmental Law.
The Environmental Science Department aims to create inclusive learning communities that focus on scholarship and research about the earth, natural environment, and the interaction between humans and natural systems. We offer programs including a BS in Environmental Science, an Environmental Science minor, a BS in Environmental Sustainability, and a BA in Earth Science.
Duties and Responsibilities- Using the course outline as a guide, develop syllabi to deploy course content, objectives, and assessment methods for up to six (6) credit hours per semester.
- Contribute to student success by providing consistent support and guidance through mentoring and availability for student questions.
- Teach in person and/or online depending on course schedules and department needs.
- Ph.D., JD, or Master’s in a related discipline.
- Full‑time or part‑time employment or active professional practice.
- Ability to teach online.
- Professional activity within the discipline such as relevant teaching experience, a non‑profit organization, or a government agency.
- Experience teaching both online and in person.
- Published peer-reviewed articles, conference papers, blogs, or books.
- Ability to translate environmental science experience into pedagogical approaches that enhance curriculum relevance.
- Commitment to continuous professional development.
- Commitment to content, teaching excellence, assessment strategies, and positive outcomes.
- Patience and resourcefulness in managing student challenges.
- Ability to set and work toward common goals in a collaborative environment.
New employees: $2,100 per credit.
Employees with 13+ semesters at WP: $2,175 per credit.
