Salary: Based on degree and experience in accordance with the BCS Teacher Pay Scale Supervisor: Special Education Director
- Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited institution.
- Valid West Virginia teaching certificate with certification/endorsement in Special Education
. - Minimum of five (5) years of successful teaching experience in Special Education

The Special Education Diagnostician and IEP Specialist will work under the direction of the Director of Special Education to provide district-level assistance and support in the identification, evaluation, programming, and provision of services for students with disabilities.
The individual will assist school-based personnel with initial evaluations and reevaluations
, including reviewing existing data, assisting with evaluation procedures and documentation, participating in eligibility meetings, and helping ensure evaluations are completed accurately and within required timelines.
The Specialist will provide technical assistance and support related to the development and implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and will review annual IEPs developed at the school level for accuracy, completeness, procedural compliance, and appropriate documentation of student needs, services, accommodations, goals, and placement.
The position will also provide assistance with Manifestation Determination Reviews, Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs), and other special education meetings and processes as needed. The Specialist will serve as a resource to teachers, administrators, and other school-level personnel regarding special education procedures, documentation, compliance requirements, and appropriate educational programming.
This is a district-level position based in the Special Education Department at the Boone County Schools Central Office
. Regular travel to schools throughout Boone County will be required to attend meetings, assist with evaluations, provide technical assistance, review student programming, and support school personnel.
- Assist with initial evaluations and reevaluations of students receiving or being considered for special education services.
- Assist school personnel in completing required evaluation documentation and meeting applicable timelines.
- Participate in eligibility and multidisciplinary evaluation team meetings as needed.
- Review annual IEPs developed by school-level personnel for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable special education requirements.
- Provide guidance regarding the development of measurable annual goals, accommodations, modifications, services, and other required components of the IEP.
- Assist with Manifestation Determination Reviews and related disciplinary procedures involving students with disabilities.
- Assist in the development, review, and implementation of Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) and related behavioral supports.
- Provide technical assistance, consultation, and support to special education teachers, administrators, and other school personnel.
- Attend IEP, evaluation, eligibility, manifestation, behavioral, and other special education meetings as assigned.
- Assist the Special Education Department in monitoring compliance with federal, state, and district special education requirements.
- Maintain appropriate confidentiality of student records and information.
- Travel to Boone County schools as needed to provide direct assistance and support.
- Work collaboratively with school administrators, teachers, related service providers, parents, and district personnel to support appropriate services for students with disabilities.
- Complete other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Special Education
