Internship Program – May 2026 Start Date
Manufacturing is at the heart of Whirlpool Corporation. The 10‑12 week Manufacturing Leadership Development Program (MLDP) – Controls Engineering Track focuses on World Class Manufacturing methodology and offers internship experiences in lean manufacturing, quality, automation, process engineering and related areas.
Successful completion may lead to consideration for a full‑time position within the post‑graduation MLDP.
Program LocationThis internship will be located at one of Whirlpool’s North American plant facilities. Common locations include Ohio (primary plant), Iowa, Tennessee, Oklahoma, and Massachusetts. Reliable transportation to the plant is required.
Internship Responsibilities- Lead automation projects related to process control, quality control, safety systems and vision systems.
- Design, develop, review and coordinate test programs or components, small systems or processes, or materials while considering customer, product performance, cost and quality requirements.
- Manage equipment or resource relocation projects, including redesign of current equipment, sourcing new options from suppliers, and leading change management with impacted team members.
- Focus on cost-savings initiatives across a plant, such as standardized work audits, improving first‑pass yield and throughput.
- Learn and apply Lean Manufacturing tools to project(s).
- Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Automation Engineering, Robotics Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering or a related field.
- Planning to graduate before or by May 2028.
- Current cumulative GPA of 2.8 or higher.
- Indefinite U.S. work authorization (no visa sponsorship required).
- Strong enthusiasm for and knowledge of automation tools and technologies.
- Proven decision‑making skills and ability to analyze and solve complex business problems through innovation and creativity.
- Ability to lead and work with teams to drive and achieve extraordinary results.
