SummaryThis position will be responsible for managing construction of small-scale vertical asset projects such as pump stations/ force mains, storage facilities, and wastewater treatment plant repair and rehabilitation with an emphasis on electrical components. Additional responsibilities include assisting the Pump Stations Manager in prioritizing projects based on competing needs; developing conceptual, preliminary, and detailed designs and programs for improvements to SD1’s vertical assets.
This position will be responsible for closely coordinating Field Technical Services’ work with other departments within SD1.
This position will be responsible for the Electrician on-call program and will be required to respond to after hour issues as necessary. Additional responsibilities such as high voltage testing at pump stations and treatment plants, assisting the Engineering Department with projects, and general contractor oversight will be required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Manage the design and construction of Field Technical Service projects, including pump stations, electrical components, facilities, wastewater treatment plant rehabilitation and repair that are initiated and/or managed by the Asset Management Department and/or Engineering Department.
- Plan, investigate, and perform field work activities to determine feasibility and options.
- Oversee construction sites to monitor progress and ensure conformance to engineering plans, specifications, and construction and safety standards.
- Direct construction and maintenance activities at project sites, including supervision of SD1 personnel (i.e., operators, laborers, and site foreman) and contractors.
- Coordinate with SD1 personnel and outside consultants in the preparation of engineering and design documents.
- Manage professional services and construction contracts, including costs, quality, schedule, and field activities.
- Coordinate with material suppliers and material testing subcontractors to meet quality assurance requirements of the design.
- Occasionally perform confined space entries, confined space certification or the ability to obtain certification within the first 6 months of employment is required
- Assist the Engineering Department during the design phase of vertical asset projects. Review and comment on large vertical construction project design plans to ensure operational and maintenance needs are being met.

- Associate or bachelor’s degree in civil/construction engineering or other associated technical mechanical or electrical degree from a two-year or four-year College or University, or technical trade school is preferred but not required.
- Must have at least five years of related experience and/or training with similar types of work involving Water or Wastewater operations and maintenance; project management; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Highly desired candidates will have five or more years of supervisory work experience in Wastewater Field Operations.
- Must have and maintain a professional electrical license and be working towards a license as a Master Electrician.
