Senior Critical Infrastructure Electrical Engineer – Supply Chain and Rack Testing Facility, Field Engineering
Amazon Data Services, Inc. (AWS Infrastructure Services) owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. This role supports the facility’s electrical and cooling infrastructure for rack‑testing facilities and data centers, ensuring safe and reliable operations.
Key Responsibilities- Provide full life‑cycle engineering support across SCFM facilities and data centers.
- Diagnose equipment failures, conduct root‑cause analysis, and document corrective actions.
- Conduct feasibility studies for facility upgrades, review design solutions, and improve availability, efficiency, and cost.
- Drive standardization of space planning, design implementation, and construction practices.
- Navigate ambiguity to support operational issues, review complex operating procedures, and provide onsite event support with cross‑functional teams.
- Interface with internal teams—hardware engineers, fleet remediation engineering, program managers, environmental health & safety, control, design, and construction—to promote consistent standards.
- Initiate and lead engineering audits, produce risk reports, and lead remediations.
- Act as resident engineer for new construction and fit‑out projects, reviewing commissioning scripts and acceptance criteria.
- Review preventive maintenance programs to ensure proactive building performance in partnership with Integrated Facilities Management partners.
- Travel domestic and international as needed (≥25 %).
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience in electrical engineering.
- 6+ cumulative years of experience with industrial, municipal, or commercial facility engineering for supply‑chain manufacturing, data centers, or oil‑gas facilities.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable personal transportation by start date.
- Experience reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings, specifications, and submittals.
- Experience with BMS and EPMS control systems, including data collection and trending.
- Experience designing, constructing, operating, or maintaining mission‑critical or large‑scale supply‑chain / manufacturing facilities, including greenfield builds and upgrade programs.
- Experience with liquid‑cooling technologies or other advanced electrical systems in a manufacturing or lab environment.
- Broad understanding of mechanical, instrumentation, and electrical equipment related to industrial, data‑center, or supply‑chain facilities (e.g., UPS, diesel generators, switch gear, power distribution units, VFDs, transfer switches, chillers, pumps, cooling towers, heat exchangers, CRAHs, air economizers).
- Registered Professional Engineer (PE) and/or advanced degree in engineering or related field.
